The Gospel of Moralism
This is one of the most terrible and fatal gospel that is antagonistic to the Christian gospel. It is widely accepted and widespread today among those who call themselves the “Christian folk” because of it’s close resemblance to the Christian message but they are very far apart and diametrically opposed. There are three forms/ categories of the “Moralist Gospel ” which was addressed in Scriptures:
1. Pharisaic Moralism
2. Moralism of the Circumcision
3. Ascetic Moralism or Hellenistic Moralism
Characteristics of Moralism
1. Self confidence and dependence for righteousness and salvation. It does not seek a righteousness that comes by faith through Christ.
2. Self righteousness and justification. It works a salvation wrought by works.
3. Perverted doctrine on sin and human depravity and a faulty Christology (doctrine of Christ and the work of atonement accomplished by Him). Moralism denies totally or partly that salvation is found in Christ alone as stated in John 14:6 and Acts 4:12.
4. Persecution or schisms (discriminations and segregation) in the body (faith).
In the subsequent edition, God will be helping us to discuss a historical-biblical origins of each of these aspects of the Gospel of Moralism. But suffice it to say for now that anyone who holds on to any aspect of the Moralism Gospel is not a Christian and is not guaranteed of an eternity with God.
