Worship

Worship is our existence, it is wired in the purpose of our living. It is what we are created to do, live for. It is the air we breath Rev. 4:11. The greatest contention in life is about worship.

Satan also wants to be worshipped. The reason for tempting man is to lead him to worship him, "You shall be like gods knowing good from evil." Idolatry is an invention of Satan to hijack worship due to God. Idolatry is "worship of the created rather than the creator for self ends, which includes self appeasement and comfort. It is the reverent acknowledgement or adoration of divinities or supernatural powers for self propagation or self worship." Definition by Oladele, Sola.

 Paul referred to idolatry as the worship of demons. Man carves out a deity either from the material or immaterial world, visible or invisible as an object of worship in order to have his desires or cravings met. At the end, the sole aim of idolatry is self worship. "You shall be as gods..." is the silent desire behind idolatry.
